Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is going to prison for a very long time. He received 28 years in prison for over a dozen charges.
The charges include racketeering, extortion and filing false tax returns. He apologized to the court afterward.
“I say with every morsel of my being that I’m sorry to you,” he said.
Judge Nancy G. Edmunds seemed determined to make the former mayor into an example to show that corruption would not be tolerated.
“That way of business is over. We’re done. We’re moving forward.,” she said.
Do you think its hypocritical that Kilpatrick received such a long sentence while corrupt wall Street bankers are allowed to go free?
