VIDEO: Police Tase, Call Woman B!t@h For Taping Them

Police in Baltimore are under fire after assaulting and tasing 36-year-old Kianga Mwamba while she was filming officers who were making an arrest.  Mwamba began filming officers after she witnessed them kicking a suspect who was on the ground.

After officers yelled at her, Mwamba advised police that her father was an officer and that she knew she had a right to film.  Officers then demanded that she pull her car over and park if she was going to continue to film.  Mwamba can be heard on the video screaming, “Why would you do that?”

She is then yanked from her vehicle, thrown to the ground, tased twice, and referred to as a “dumb b!t@h” by one of the officers.  Mwamba also reports that officers laughed at her when she asked for her inhaler. CBS is reporting that officers arrested Mwamba for using her vehicle to strike an officer but attorneys report that officers statement of probable cause and the video do not match up in terms of the charges.  Mwamba’s father, who is an officer, paid $10,000 in bail to get his daughter out of custody.

Officers deleted the 135-second recording after Mwamba handed her cellphone over while in custody.  The video was able to be recovered from her Cloud account. All charges against Mwamba have since been dropped, and she is suing the officers involved in the incident for $7,000,000 for violating her civil rights.  The officers listed in the lawsuit are Atephanie Uruchima, Kelly Larson, Erick Jackson, and Marlon Koushall.

While the video of the incident was only recently released to the public, the Baltimore police department has known about its existence since April.  The department has allowed the officer to remain on duty.  The Baltimore Sun reports that the Baltimore Police Department has paid out $5.7 million in 102 civil suits regarding misconduct between 2011 and 2014.
