Jay-Z referred to Solange as a “private school thug”

Post By RelatedRelated Post

Nobody knows what happened in the fight between Solange Knowles and the rapper Jay Z.  Some media outlets are reporting that the two got into it over a Rihanna party and some other stuff, but nobody really knows for sure.  Also, nobody knows how that vido was leaked to TMZ which led to all the craziness in the first place.

But one thing that people do know is that Jay-Z has referred to Solange as a “private school thug.”  In the interview below at the 5:30 mark, Solange talks about how Jay-Z doesn’t respect her “street cred” mainly because she doesn’t have any.

The question that black people may want to ask is “why does everybody think it’s good to be a thug anyway?”  Isn’t that a bad thing?

Remember when Beyonce released her song “Soldier,” where she said that she wanted to date a man from the street who goes out and kills people for the fun of it?

We know women who date thugs, and it usually doesn’t work out too good.

Ladies, don’t get yourself a thug.  Get yourself a real man.  Thugs end up in jail, they beat you, they get high and do a whole bunch of other stuff that isn’t good for a relationship.

But ok, now for Solange.  Tell us what you think about this interview.

  1. This article is ridiculous for many reasons, but you saying, "Remember when Beyonce released her song “Soldier,” where she said that she wanted to date a man from the street who goes out and kills people for the fun of it?" is probably the most laughable part of it. At absolutely no point in that song does ANYONE say ANYTHING about killing people for fun… or even killing people at all. The closest anyone gets to that is Beyonce saying she knows some soldiers in here that wouldn't mind taking one [a bullet] for her. If you're going to speculate, at least do it accurately. And this interview is ridiculous. All I got out of this was a couple of fake Nas fans who can't even quote him correctly… Why the According to Hip Hop Facebook page even posted this trash is beyond me.

  2. She has an idiot mentality. No real woman wants to be associated with a “thug”.

  3. Jay-z is also a “THUG”, (IN A SUIT)… A “PREP SCHOOL THUG vs A THUG IN A SUIT”, so would somebody please tell me what the difference is! Our young people are out of control and dieing every since “HIP-HOP RAP” took over the music industry.

    SEX
    VIOLENCE
    PORN
    DRUGS DEALERS
    HUGH GOLD CHAINS
    SAGGIN PANTS
    GOLD GRILLS
    STRIPPERS
ETC… JUST FKN OUT OF CONTROL IS THE BOTTOM-LINE TO ALL OF THIS.

Jay-z punched a young black girl for trying to take a pic of him at a party a couple years ago. Now his sister-in-law punched & kicked his azz in the elevator, he allows his wife to lap-dance on stage with her legs gapped wide open, and they both disrespect Tina Turner in a filthy song that just sounds like a bunch of noise, both sold their azz to the devil…

“NOW YALL WANT US TO FEEL SORRY FOR HIM”……REALLY!

There is more going on to this fight, they are covering up, but its family business over and done with… PS. The real issue is “HOW DO WE RESCUE OUR YOUNG PEOPLE FROM “THUGS” LIKE THE CARTERS AND OTHER RAPPERS / OUR CHILDREN ARE DROPPING LIKE FLIES….

    • WELL THAT’S WHAT PARTYING GET YOU ALL THE TIME A BUNCH OF TROUBLE. THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PUT MONEY IN THE COMMUNITIES THEY CAME FROM ARE BUILD PLACES TO MAKE JOBS, A PLACE TO LEARN THE ARTS, FOR THOSE STUDENTS WHO PARENTS DO HAVE THE MEANS TO SUPPLY THEIR CHILDREN WITH EXTRA CURRICULUM, TO KEEP THEM OFF THE STREETS AND OUT OF THE IDIOT BOX, AND GAMES. MAYBE TEACH THEM HOW TO PLAY CHESS TO THINK WITH THEIR MINDS.
ALL THESE RAPERS BUYING THE MAYBACH CARS, IF THEY WOULD USE THAT MONEY TO FUND SOME OF OUR CHILDREN EDUCATION, THAT WOULD HELP SO MANY OF OUR CHILDREN. WHATEVER THE FIGHT WAS ABOUT WE DO NOT CARE WHAT I CARE ABOUT IS OUR CHILDREN KILLING EACH OTHER KKK (KIN KILLING KIN), THAT’S IS WHAT WE NEED TO BE FOCUS ON AND RELIZE YOU CAN TAKE THE PERSON OUT OF COUNTRY, BUT YOU CAN NOT TAKE THE COUNTRY OUT OF PERSON. SAME THING GO WITH THEM CAN’T TAKE THE IGNORANCE OUT OF THEM. ASE’

    • It’s not Jay z, Beyonce, or the rappers. It’s bad parenting. Parents should be parents.

      • Al though your 75 to maybe 85% right it still goes much deeper then good parenting. Come out of the barrel.

  4. I agree, I don't even consider this a conversation; especially one in which I would participate. If she weren't Mrs Carter's sister, this would not even be aired.

  5. This article was on the right track. The main arc was true north. Quibbling with inanities doesn't make James' points less furtive.

  6. Jeffrey Perot Nice vocab, Sir. Carry on.

  7. Who cares…

  8. I'm not even going to reply on the fight, but on something that a few of the bloggers touched on. such as Redbone; yes, it may be deeper than good parenting, but everything starts at home. Before a child is introduced to society, the child is around family, all families are dysfunctional. So whether its the child's parents or grandparents taking care of him or her; its based upon what that child learns at home first and what the one teaching has experienced in their own lives. We all are taught at an early age to accept and don't go against the grain. Most from poor and middle class families, regardless of the race from those economic social structures. that's why most don't have "Knowledge of self" by the time they reach junior high. we are taught to work hard and work for someone else. get good grades in school to go either into the military, go on to higher education or work.
now to Candace, we need to stop looking towards the government and other wealthy people to give back into the communities. Yes on paper it sounds good and maybe, its the right thing to do from a humanity level. but we cannot expect someone to do what we want them to do with their money. you(we) surely don't want the government telling us what to do with ours(taxes) and most don't even want GOD telling us how and when to give money(tithes). If we want someone to help our inner city(urban) or poorer neighborhoods to support our educational cause. it starts with us. We have to join groups to support our cause, churches, grassroots projects, etc. and if not. get together with others and put that money in. 50-100 people can do more with a $1 than one person. and most of us don't vote and only voted for Obama just because he was "black" and haven't voted since then and won't vote again, unless Hilary runs or maybe Dr. Ben Carson.
start within your own house, don't expect your(our) children to do what we tell them to do, but what they see us and others do. this new generation of parents are trying to hang out with their children. give them some real morals and values. stop teaching our children to "twerk" and "rap" and play sports. we need doctors and lawyers. how many doctors are Asian now and look at how many attorneys we have. become business owners, and if you don't know, learn yourself or seek out a mentor, ex. 100 Black Men.
GOD is within, stop looking from outside and use the GOD given abilities that the Supreme being gave each one of us
