This video makes you ask a few questions, starting with: What is the NAACP doing giving Lifetime Achievement Awards to Donald Sterling? Sterling is the Los Angeles Clippers owner who is now infamous for telling his girlfriend that he didn’t want black people coming to his games. In the midst of the firestorm are revelations that the Los Angeles chapter of the NAACP has given Sterling awards in the past and also planned to give him a Lifetime Award this year.
This cozy connection between a leading civil rights organization and a man who has been sued repeatedly for racism has drawn concern among those who don’t feel that this relationship is appropriate.

What has Donald Sterling done for the black community that might make someone believe that he deserves a Lifetime Achievement Award from the NAACP?
Are there others out there doing meaningful work who would have been more worthy of this reward?
Dr Watkins is a Finance professor and he breaks down the economic implications of this very odd partnership.
For the record, the NAACP has told Sterling that if he makes another donation, they might forgive him. Maybe this shows the relationship between money and civil rights, which is not always good for the black community.
