Malcolm X explains why black people don’t have jobs

Post By RelatedRelated Post

In this very important video, Malcolm X is talking about the importance of owning black businesses.  Due to the legacy and history of African Americans being trained to work for whites, we are stuck in a cycle within which we’re taught to believe that our purpose for education or any other training is to get a white-owned company to hire us.

The challenge with this line of thinking is that it can easily lead our community down a path of treacherous dependence on white Americans to feed us, clothe us and take care of our children.  We also shouldn’t be surprised when we find out that African Americans have the highest unemployment rate.

Malcolm X’s message hasn’t been promoted as much as that of Dr. King, but he’s equally important.  In this speech, Malcolm begins by remininding African Americans of the importance of supporting black business.  He also says that black people should teach themselves and their children to go into business as well, as a form of security for the African American community.

He says that by having our own businesses, we can create black employment rather than hoping that whites will do it for us.  He says that we can then avoid “acting ignorantly and disgracefully,” boycotting white owned businesses for the chance to get them to hire us.  His message makes sense now more than ever, and perhaps it’s time that we take this message seriously.

“Anytime you have to depend on your enemy for a job, you’re in bad shape,” he says on the interview.

You have to listen to it.  Please tell us what you think.

  1. We need fairness in employment; we tired of being robbed

  2. "Anytime u have to rely on your enemie for a job, u in a bad shape"

  3. And we are still in bad shape today!

  4. Owning and operating business is apart of every culture around the world . That is the only way to have a community. Control your economics , hire the people that want to work & that brings on culture & tradition.

  5. Malcolm X said this over forty five years ago. His speech fell on deaf ears. It is now to late for Black American communities to get ahead Financially. Look at the Native American's, their thriving with their casino's.

    • The Negro needs to stop trying to be WHITE. Negro’s are not white people and never will be. Be what your are. Proud beasts of the grasslands, perfectly evolved to wander among the wilds of Africa.

Negro’s trying to live in a white western civilization just creates confusion and disorientation for the beasts. Return to your homelands Negro’s and be amongst your own kind.

  6. Now, black Americans must turn to the NAACP and Urban League and ask them to stop playing politics for the Democratic Party of America and put on the table what they have done to assist black and minority college students like the Koch brothers. President Obama, who limits black power, black success, black education, and black employment by his chilling silence must use his last days in office to reset the identity of the black American male and female in preparation for his exit and some of the worst racial times ahead.

  7. The realist word spoken

  8. We as a people are so Lost!!! We were lost them and can't even find the road today!

  9. some former nba owner stated that he clothes and feeds Africans living in this native American country, Malcolm was spot on. We have to start our own businesses, so that we can move forward and be truly INDEPENDENT!!!!!

  10. It,s but. Very true, if we can get up, learn every word to a rap song, then why don't. We take to a educational level, you wonder why we are in class getting d,s, f,s!! And then say the white man is holding us back!! Get off your ass black man, woman, make something of yourself

  11. It’s too late for African people. PTSS is embedded in our psyche/DNA and we are just passing it along to each generation to be dependent on our oppressors. SMDH

  12. Well, there’s lots of recent evidence that makes it clear that Negro’s have very low IQ”s. It’s a genetic trait. The lowest of all the races on the planet, so low that by normal standards they would be considered clinically retarded.

It’s understandable that given such low IQ’s and an innate propensity for violence that employers would be reluctant to hire a Negro? Just sayin.

    • I guess this would include all the “Negro” doctors in all specialties (including Dr. Charles Drew, Dr. Daniel Hale Williams and Dr. Patricia Bath) lawyers (Thurgood Marshall), engineers (Granville T. Woods , Elijah McCoy ) chemists (George Washington Carver, Mae Jemison) physicists (Dr. Neil Degrasse Tyson, Dr. Herman Russell Branson ) etc. etc. Can’t forget Dr. Mark Dean. Oh, and Frederick McKinley Jones.

  13. If you think or feel like it’s too late include yourself not all because whether I am employed today and lose it tomorrow or any given time I wont miss a beat no matter where I’m at on Gods green earth I’ll survive can’t speak for everyone. Oh and as far as being retarted those remarks come from a race of people scared of the truth so they try to beat you down mentally by giving the worse school’s neighbor(hoods) and get sick when they hear about the many young African not American males that play their game and make it out and make it look easy with all odds stacked against them yeah dont talk too much about that though scary thought scary sight for everyone who too scared to step it up keep staying down but dont speak for the one’s not needing a handout or assistance from any Uncle Sam red neck

  14. We as a black people need to pull out the generational VIRUS. CALL

  15. My last pay check was $9500 working 12 hours a week online. My sisters friend has been averaging 15k for months now and she works about 20 hours a week. I can't believe how easy it was once I tried it out. This is what I do,

  16. You can’t expect these people to ever allow you to join the game and that is the main problems. Black people have gone from being entrepreneurs to being labors and when you black and your labor, your going to be poor. They have never allowed you to make yourself for free.
Think about it, black people is not in this shape because were lazy and don’t work. It is joint effort of every last one of the ruling class.

Look at your town. If there is no black car shop, create one. If you don’t have a black owned carpet cleaner, create one, If you don’t have a black owned lawn care service, create one. If you don’t have a black owned version of any business, create one and run it top notch. And treat your customers like gold.
