Steve Harvey is an actor, comedian, television/radio personality and author who currently hosts The Steve Harvey Morning Show and Family Feud. He was born in Welch, West Virginia and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. His father was a coal miner, and prior to being a successful comedian, actor, and radio personality, Harvey worked as a boxer, an insurance salesman, a carpet cleaner, and a mailman. He has been married multiple times and has four biological children.
His comedy career began with him doing stand up at the Hilarities Comedy Club in Cleveland. With hard word and dedication, he became the host of, It’s Showtime at the Apollo, and in 1996 began starring in the WB network show, The Steve Harvey Show. He also toured with The Original Kings of Comedy along with Cedric the Entertainer and Bernie Mac.
The final act of Harvey’s stand-up career was on August 2, 2012 when he performed at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, bringing an end his 27 year career as a stand up comedian. The show was broadcast live on Pay Per View, and he thanked his fans and acknowledged what an amazing journey his stand up career had been.
Harvey became host of the game show Family Feud in September 2010. Family Feud is a game show where families compete against each other in trying to name the most popular responses to survey questions that have been posed to 100 people.
Family Feud premiered in 1976 and has aired for 31 seasons. The show has seen it’s rating improve drastically since Harvey became host. The show is now the second most-watched daytime syndicated show.
