Don Lemon Among Reporters Who Secretly Met With Officer Darren Wilson

While America waits, the grand jury reconvened again on Monday to decide the fate of theDarren Wilson 2 officer who gunned down unarmed teen Michael Brown. The media, however, isn’t waiting until after the decision to hear Officer Darren Wilson’s side of the story. According to CNN, several reporters have already met with Wilson in an attempt to get an exclusive scoop.

Among those who have secretly met with Wilson are Matt Lauer of NBC, George Stephanopoulos of ABC, Scott Pelley of CBS, and Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon of CNN.

Brian Steltzer of CNN’s Reliable Sources was the first to release the names of reporters who’d secretly met with Wilson. Cooper and Lemon both confirmed their meeting with Wilson after Sunday’s broadcast of the show.

What we don’t know at this point is whether any of these reporters has been granted an interview or what Wilson told them about the day he gunned down Michael Brown.

“For the record, I met briefly with Darren Wilson a few days ago to see if he wanted to do an interview with me. That’s standard procedure,” Cooper tweeted.

Although some criticized Cooper, the anchor made it clear that he was just being fair and had interviewed the Brown family on several occasions.

“I’d also like to interview the grand jury,” Cooper wrote. “There is no conspiracy here. Reporters want to interview people and sometimes you have to meet them first.”

Don Lemon’s tweet was similar to Cooper’s.

“We’ve interviewed the Brown family, Dorian Johnson and all witnesses. Of course we’d want to interview Wilson.”

Although Wilson is planning to open up now, many will recall his resistance to filing a police report or getting the facts out front after he gunned down Michael Brown.
