Men Wearing Monkey Masks Rob Store of Air Jordans

Two Los Angeles men were captured on surveillance video stealing several monkey masked thievespairs of Nike Jordan shoes during a daytime robbery, say police.

The robbery took place at around 1pm Thursday on Melrose Ave, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Surveillance video shows two men dressed in monkey masks brandishing semi-automatic weapons and threatening a store clerk.

The men, who are believed to be between the ages of 18 to 25, and either black or Hispanic, fled the scene with several pairs of sneakers.

According to CBS Los Angeles, both men were anywhere from 5’7 to 5’9, and weighed between 150-160lbs.

“After the robbery, the suspects left the scene in a car described as a later-model gray Nissan Altima with four doors and paper plates,” read a statement released by authorities.

Officer Drake Madison did not reveal which store was robbed, KTLA reported, but the station was able to confirm that the stolen shoes were sold for between $200 to $1000 dollars.

“One of the men was wearing a gray shirt, blue jeans, light blue gloves and a monkey face mask. The other was dressed in a red shirt, blue jeans, light blue gloves and a gorilla mask,” according to the local station.

Some people seem almost obsessed with the Jordan brand, even with the high prices, so the shoes have become a target for thieves.

One man showed his love for the shoe a few weeks ago by licking it during an interview.

During an interview with Ohio’s ABC 13, Paul Moses approved of how police were maintaining crowd control , then licked his new shoe.
