In a seeming effort to downplay the charges against George Zimmerman, his attorney framed the accusations against him as more of a relationship issue than yet another example of Zimmerman being unable to control his aggression.
Zimmerman was arrested on Friday night on charges of domestic viοlence with a weapon and aggravated assαult and released on Saturday after posting bond.
Don West, Zimmerman’s attorney, would not offer specifics about what led up to the alleged assαult but quipped that Zimmerman “has not been lucky with the ladies.”
Zimmerman has had the police called on him by both his former wife and girlfriend.
In 2013 Zimmerman’s then estranged wife, Shellie Zimmerman, accused him of pυnching her father in the face, destroying her iPad, and pointing a gun at them. Later Shellie Zimmerman admitted to police that there hadn’t been a gun involved. No charges were filed after that incident.
A couple of months later, Zimmerman’s then girlfriend, Samantha Scheibe, accused him of pointing a gun at her.
“You put your gun in my freakin’ face. Get out of my house. Do not push me out of my house. Please get out of my house!” Scheibe told a 911 dispatcher. “He’s in my house, breaking all my shit because I asked him to leave. He’s got a freaking gun, breaking all my stuff right now.”
Zimmerman was arrested on a felony charge of aggravated assαult with a weapon and two misdemeanors following the incident. Officers also removed several firearms from Mr. Zimmerman’s home.
Zimmerman’s run-ins with the law, however, have not always involved love interests. He was also involved in a road rage incident where he reportedly threαtened to kιll another driver.
In the weirdest of all his run-ins with authorities, Zimmerman was confronted by police after pretending to be a security guard.
