School District Stops Teachers From Referring to Students as “Girls And Boys”

Lincoln Public Schools encourages teachers to stay away from gender specific titles www.blacklikemoi.comReported by Nigel Boys

According to the Lincoln Journal Star, the administration at Lincoln Public Schools (LPS) in Nebraska doesn’t like their teachers distinguishing between male and female students using gender-specific terms because it might make transgender students uncomfortable.

The district would much prefer that their teachers use terms like “you guys” or “hey campers,” instead of “boys and girls” or “ladies and gentlemen” because it will help homosëxual or transgender students feel more welcome. They apparently don’t care if the heterosëxual students are confused as to why they can’t be recognized by their gender.

LPS is even handing out leaflets to their teachers in the aim of helping them become more understanding of “different” students’ needs and they plan to hold a board meeting on October 14 to discuss these issues, according to parent Rachel Terry. She adds that she intends to attend the meeting and encourages other parents to do likewise, to show the board that this kind of behavior is not acceptable and just plain ridiculous.

Several of the outlines handed to teachers have been prepared by an organization named Gender Spectrum. One of their handouts is titled “12 Easy Steps On the Way to Gender Inclusiveness” and is now available to view online.

Gender Spectrum advises teachers “Don’t use phrases such as ‘boys and girls,’ ‘you guys,’ ‘ladies and gentlemen,’ and similarly gendered expressions to get kids’ attention.” It continues, “Instead, say things like ‘calling all readers,’ or ‘hey campers’ or ‘could all of the athletes come here.’ Create classroom names and then ask all of the ‘purple penguins’ to meet at the rug.”

Brenda Leggiardo, LPS coordinator of social workers and counselors, said that the agenda is not designed to confuse children or teachers but to help all children succeed. She added that families struggle enough to understand their child’s transgender issues without making it worse by having teachers who are uninformed and unsupportive.

However, Terry believes that this is a gross misuse of taxpayer’s money to promote LGBT issues. Instead of focusing on educating the children, the LPS administration has chosen to train teachers about social re-engineering. The ones who will ultimately pay the price for their decision will be the children, she adds.

  1. What kind of CLOWN SH#T is this?!!! This is plain STUPID,.

  2. FIRE the entire Lincoln school board. They are more interested in social re-engineering than educating the youth for tomorrow. They are our future and if they are not academically ready; then, the future of America will be in jeopardy. Socially, one must be able to distinguish between right and wrong, good and evil, girl and boy, male and female, ladies and gentlemen, oranges and apples.

  3. Well, this is what you Christians get for supporting this gay agenda. It's not going to stop. It will continue until everyone is gay or accepting it. The Catholic Church has won and her daughters, the churches are included.

  4. How about dogs and cats? Wait.. then the animals would be offended!

  5. Totally ridiculous. They should be more focused on education. Most of these kids don't have a problem with their sexuality and I have never heard of transexual or gender reassignment on school age kids.

  6. Foolishness

Its as in case you had a fantastic grasp on the subject matter, but you forgot to consist of your readers. Possibly you must take into consideration this from far more than one angle. Or possibly you shouldnt generalise so considerably. Its greater should you take into consideration what other people may possibly have to say rather of just going for a gut reaction towards the subject. Take into consideration adjusting your own believed process and giving others who may possibly read this the benefit with the doubt.
