The charity Extra Life is an online grassroots movement that raises money to help children facing various challenges.  This particular Extra Life fundraising event was to benefit Children’s Miracle Network, an international non-profit that raises money for children’s hospitals, medical research and community awareness of health issues faced by children.  The non-profit was founded by Marie Osmond and John Schneider in 1983 and is known to many people for granting wishes to children with terminal health conditions.

Burton was recently thrust back into the spotlight earlier this year when he launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring Reading Rainbow back by making an app that is freely accessed through internet browsers that would get him closer to his goal of reaching “every child, everywhere.”  The campaign quickly exceeded his goal of raising $1 million and eventually went on to raise more than $5 million.  The Reading Rainbow app will know also be available on Android devices after only previously being available on Apple devices.
