The Ku Klux Klan has experienced a resurgence as of late and it’s difficult to know whether the renewed interest was spurred due to nativist reactions to the economic downturn or having a black president. Either way, the KKK has been rebranding and passing out fliers all over the country.
Given the organization’s desire for new members, the KKK has typically taken a softer tone, but the Maryland-based Traditional Rebel Knights held a rally at Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania on Saturday which made the motives of the KKK clear.
Speakers at the rally didn’t speak about how they were a new and improved KKK, instead they launched into attαcks on minorities, gay people, and President Obama.
“The only solution is an all-white revolution,” one Klansman said, according to The Raw Story.
“We are taking back this land,” another screamed. “Anyone stands in our way, they’re going in the ground.”
Albert Fike, the local hate group’s vice president, said the group is rallying “to show other proud white people that we are here if they’re interested in joining.”
Lately, white supremacist groups all across the country have been disturbing and harassing law abiding people. The most offensive attempt at outreach came in Virginia when a group left racist notes in Easter eggs.
“My husband noticed the last Easter egg and i knew it wasn’t one that put out. we opened it and it’s got the white supremacist stuff in it,” resident Jackie Smith explained.
Inside the egg was the note, “diversity = white genοcide.”
Last year the KKK also dropped flyers near where an NAACP gathering was scheduled to take place in Florida.
“I think that’s their message they were trying to send, that they’re still alive and well and they are right in our backyard, so to speak,” said Bill Gary of the NAACP after the incident.
