A Toronto couple thought they were the luckiest people in the world when they won $50 million dollars in the lottery. According to The Toronto Sun, Hakeem Nosiru was so elated thatlottery winner he ran through a convenience store jumping for joy once he learned he’d hit the jackpot.

Unfortunately for Hakeem and his wife, Abiola, their big moment wouldn’t last long.

Initially, Hakeem was so protective over theticket that he put it in an envelope and taped it to himself to avoid losing it. Soon, though, he gave it to his wife to guard and that’s when it went missing.

Nosiru says he and his wife went to church and after they returned home, the lotto ticket was gone.

“I couldn’t sleep for days, I couldn’t eat. I was devastated,” Abiola said.

Hakeem says he wasn’t angry at his wife when he learned the ticket was missing because he decided that whatever happened was God’s will.

“God gave us the money,” he said.

Months went by before someone at the couple’s church called to say they’d found the ticket.

“We lose the ticket and eventually we found it. Thank God for that,” Hakeem said.

Abiola was elated.

“When I found it I was so happy,” she said.

The couple says they don’t know how they will spend the money but they’re just happy to have it back.

“We believed that before the money there was a life,” she said. “After the money there would be a life.”

The couple did say they plan to relax with their children and grandchildren.

  1. Did the couple find the ticket or did someone at the church find it? Article is a little confusing.

  2. These people never keep things straight! You almost have to become an investigater to get the whole truth of the story. Will they give a reward to the person who found and was honest enough to return the ticket?

  3. It looks like "someone" found the ticket and informed the couple about the missing ticket. They should be clearer.

  4. This isn’t written well..did I find the ticket?? Who?

  5. It appears the wife took the envelope and enclosed ticket to church and lost it. Maybe when the church got deep cleaned someone found the envelope and turned it over to church officals. The wife cannot be trusted I hope ge doesn't let her touch the winnings.

  6. Hmm, I wonder if the person that found it and returned it to the original couple was given a reward. It is a nice gesture to do so since they could have kept it and got the winnings.Ijs.

  7. Surprised that most commenters are worried about the story line and not the right/wrong of couple playing the lottery. Is it wrong for Christians to gamble? Can they say this was a blessing? or are they putting their trust "in uncertain riches". Look up sweepstakes winners and read the stories of those who fell into debt or lost their winnings due to mismanagement of funds. The Bible gives us one lesson..that those who desire to be rich, fall into many hurtful and deceitful lusts… and warns us to be careful not to become consumed with money.."for the love of money is the root of all evil"!

  8. The lack of it is also the very root of evil! Don't forget that too! People will rob steal and kill just to have the dollar. I don't know that Paul or Matthew or any of the others really wrote what you're quoting young lady but you could be right. Gotta go. I need to pick up my power ball ticket. Lol

  9. Well Ms Wyche, it seems that it would be the right thing to do but they wouldn't have been able to cash it because it had their name and address on the back side. Probably why it was returned. Proof of ownership!

  10. Edward J Williams Yes I know. I guess I'm stretching things, lol. I look at it like this… they could have thrown it away because we know that there are so men crazies out there. Had I been owner of the lost ticket I would have gladly rewarded them for their kindness and effort. And in case you are wondering had I been the founder of the ticket I would have returned it even if there was no reward. It's all about doing the right thing regardless of the situation, right?

  11. Well, again, you are correct in your statement. I too, would give a reward because they didn't have to return it. Honest people still exist in a world of confusion. Have a pleasant weekend. Be Blessed.

  12. As usual, they can never complete an article.

  13. In todays news reporting clever journalists work their own slant into a story. Bloggers use it promote their works and numerous just use it for enjoyable or to stay in touch with pals far away.
