The entertainer that was first known as Kid Gangsta at age three, then Lil’ Bow Wow, and then simply Bow Wow, has now graduated to a more mature moniker: Shad Moss.
The 106 & Park host announced via Instagram that he will go by his government name starting on June 29th. The 27-year-old said that he has outgrown his old stage name, although he acknowledges all the successes he’s had as Bow Wow. “After BET awards I will no longer go by Bow Wow! I’m going by my real name ‘Shad Moss’ we made a lot of history as bow wow. Now its time for the next chapter and challenge,” he wrote.
“Bow wow doesn’t fit who I am today’” he explained. “Ima father business man, TV host, Actor and rapper! Time for MR Moss to take over!”
Bow Wow’s step toward growing up is coming in perfect timing since he is preparing a new album that is meant to show a more mature side of the Lottery Ticket actor, according to AllHipHop. The album’s release date has yet to be announced, but it is rumored to feature artists such as Talib Kweli, Meek Mill, and Chris Brown.
Do you think Bow Wow — ooops! I mean Shad Moses — will be able to pull off a name change this late in his career?
