Dr. Dre’s recent sell of the listening devices that bear his name put the music mogul in an elite category of wealth, but the new billionaire is reportedly spreading the wealth around.

He left a tip of $5,000 for a waitress at West Hollywood’s Skybar on Thursday, according to Radar Online.

Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Romelle Young, had a fun night out, with reports of taking tequila shots at Skybar, chatting it up with the deejay, and taking pictures with fans, according to various reports.

An observer watched Dre give the tip to the stunned server.

Dre, 49, is the founder and chief executive of Aftermath Entertainment and Beats Electronics. Apple recently announced it will pay $3 billion to acquire Beats Music and Beats Electronics.

Dre has produced albums and worked with many of the biggest rappers in music including Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, and Xzibit. He was ranked as the second richest figure in the American hip hop scene by Forbes with a net worth of $550 million, a figure that now tops a billion dollars following the sell of Beats by Dre to Apple.

He celebrated that sale by purchasing a new mansion from Gisele and Tom Brady. The nearly 20,000-square-foot French-inspired château (with moat) sold for $40 million in early June. Dre’s moving and shaking continues now that he listed his own Hollywood home for $35 million.

Brady built the house originally on property purchased for $11.75 million back in 2009, according to the Los Angeles Times.

After leaving Skybar, Dre was also spotted at Full Moon Bazaar and the Mondrian Hotel where he reportedly purchased a Mac & Lou bracelet for his wife Nicole Threatt.

  1. While it was thoughtful for DR.DRE to give $5,000.00 to a server,i feel that that money could be better spent.Hopefully,he will be as generous for those families who don’t have enough to eat.Monies given like that bring about publicity but does not effect change in a group of people.Believe me,i am not hating,i just felt that money could have been used more constructively.

    • Wait for it!!! Dr Dre don’t care about black folks! Only when they buy his products

  2. He should help Dr. Johnson develop the "Black FDMG Academy for young Black men. He could make a world of difference. The $5000 tip, is already headed to the White Mans financial wealth.

  3. I agree 1000% Robert Lewis! We will see how many celebs step up and help Dr. Umar develop this school for black boys.

  4. It's his money he can do with it as he pleases. I'm sure the server is happy.

  5. Robert, not trying to disrespect you, but why do you always try to dictate to wealthy black ppl what they should do with their money? And this is directed at the elders in particular…no disrespect to those who were participants of the Civil Rights Movement…but integration should not have been a priority, the piority should have been demanding that tax dollars paid by those be fairly and equally allocated for the betterment of our community, while heavily focusing on black folks investing in the community and pooling money to utilize for the betterment and advancement of the black community, including the fundimg of black schools where black children could have received a good education in a familiar, nurturing environment. Begging wealthy black folks for money is not working for us….some help and some don't…and some do help, but some of us don't approve and want to dictate how theg should help. Not working. Time for black folks to decide whether or not we want to work together collectively to build wealth within our own community…or not and keep begging.

  6. I have been hit with many nightsticks and went through many "downtown" marches. Wealthy Black people think they got it they're wealth 'all on their own', and simply not true. People today have an "its all about me" attitude. Never giving back to the very causes and people who went to jail and died for what you people (like you) now enjoy. You wouldn't be able to sit there and type your bull if wasn't for the sacrifices of other people. I don't want no damn integration or government assistance. You speak about "tax" dollars being allocated around equally, that is begging and waiting for the White Government to step in and save our communities. Black wealth is the only way to save our communities. Black wealth is "Black folk giving back to their community and not exploiting it". Richest folk in the Black community are drug dealers. Do you work the streets in helping Black People? My hands are dirty.

For the Record, I don't seek nor want Integration, I seek Human Rights and financial security for ALL Black People. Black People have got to provide that for themselves. Have a great day Sister.

  10. 1st, you don't know what Dre does or doesn't do with his money in terms of giving back to the community. 2nd I know all too well what those before me sacrificed. 3rd, blacks of the CRM era DEMANDING that FAIR ALLOCATION of taxes they PAID be utilized for the betterment of THEIR community wouldn't have been "begging". Also the process of BLACK FOLKS pooling their resources for the betterment of the community at large should have been implemented during that era…it can still be done and can work, but it will take time, commitment and trust among ALL of us for it to work. Begging, dictating and trying to control what Dre and other rich/wealthy blacks do with THEIR loot ISN'T WORKING FOR US, Robert, it really isn't. Time for us to try something new.
