The 20th anniversary of the OJ Simpson was last week. The 66-year-old former football player, who is an inmate in prison, has been assaulted during his confinement and has sought help from another felon in order to protect himself. He decided to hire convicted felon Willie “Smoke” Hartwell to be his bodyguard. Hartwell is 6’0 tall and weights 180 lbs. Yet, he’s quite intimidating.
Simpson is paying Hartwell in snacks, stamps, and toiletries from the commissary. He has also been promised money in his commissary account if Simpson were to be paroled in 2017. In return, he gives Simpson protection at all times in the prison. He makes sure that no one harasses him and lets other prisoners know not to mess with him. Both men are currently serving time for armed robbery and kidnapping charges. They met in the medium security prison in Lovelock, Nevada in 2008.
Fred Goldman, the father of Ron Goldman, who was killed with Nicole Brown, still keeps tabs on OJ. He called the prison to verify rumors that he had heard about Simpson being physically assaulted as well as sëxually assaulted. Simpson, who is overweight and has diabetes and high blood pressure, should probably be more concerned about his health taking him out instead of another prisoner.
