Rapper 50 Cent burst onto the scene with hot songs like “Wanksta”, which featured his then 6 year old son Marquise. Now, however, the rapper turned businessman, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, admits that he no longer has a relationship with his son.
It was widely publicized that 50 Cent wasn’t at his son’s graduation, something the rapper blames on his son’s mother. But in a recent interview with GQ magazine, 50 Cent clears the air and admits that his relationship with his son has fallen apart.
The rapper says his son’s mother believes that she’s owed something because she knew him before he was 50 Cent. Jackson disagrees and says that this has poisoned his relationship with his son.
“Me and my son, we don’t have a relationship anymore,” Jackson said. “It’s based on his mom. He’s adopted her way of thinking.”
Jackson has a second son now and plans to be a good father, but admits that he’s no longer with the child’s mother.
“I don’t have anything negative around the concept of kids,” he defended.
Jackson was also quick to admit that even though he’s been immensely successful in his business life, his personal life had been another thing altogether.
“The one place that I will admit that I’ve been inconsistent is in my personal life,” he explained.
Given the publicized disputes with the mother of Marquise and accusations of domestic vιolence, that was a given.
In the end, you get the sense that Jackson believes his 17 year old son Marquise has been brainwashed by his mother and that the rapper has decided to wash his hands of Marquise. If that’s true, this is a sad ending to the father-son story that began with “Wanksta”.
