The Tax and Limousine Commission took action against Gabriel Diaz after patrons complained about his swastika arm band. CBS 2 visited 26 year old Diaz at his home in the Bronx where he defended his actions.
“I am. I’m a National Socialist – what you guys call a Nαzi. I am. I’m a believer of it,” Diaz said.
Diaz was suspended after several people snapped photos of his arm band and sent them to the Anti-Defamation League and Taxi and Limousine Commission.
Diaz had no comment on the 6 million Jews kιlled during the Holocaust when asked.
Diaz is not accused of discussing his philosophy with his patrons, but wearing a swastika is against TLC rules which is why he was suspended.
“The TLC responded right away when we came to them,” said Evan Bernstein of the Anti-Defamation League. “Their course of action, we felt, was really appropriate and expedient.”
“Hopefully, he realizes this is wrong,” Bernstein said. “Hopefully, he learns from this mistake.”
Diaz said he really doesn’t want to apologize for his behavior.
“It pains me that I have to apologize. You know, it pains me. I don’t want to apologize,” he said.
