Look at Iyanla Vanzant’s face as Al Sharpton screws up her name

Al Sharpton is probably a smart person, but you wouldn’t know it from listening to him jumble up words from the teleprompter on his MSNBC show.  There are times when you wonder if something is wrong with him, or if he’s losing his mind, since he mixes words up left and right and pronounces them worse than a five year old in reading class.

The funniest part of this video is toward the end, when Iyanla Vanzant tries to keep a polite smile on her face as Sharpton destroys her name in public.  Even funnier is that he says that they’ve been friends for many years.  If they’ve been friends for that long, then why in the world can he not say her name right?

Saturday Night Live has made fun of Sharpton on their show several times in the past, which is ironic, since they are all on the same network.

Also, many black journalists were disappointed when Sharpton got his gig on MSNBC, stating that they believe that the job should have been given to a seasoned commentator with experience and not a preacher with political connections.   In fact, they say that this video and others shows just how unqualified he is for the job.

But maybe being an FBI informant has it’s benefits.

How do you think Sharpton feels about this?

  1. Leave Al Sharpton along, even the most experience Anchors and Journalist mispronounce words and names a lot. I’ve seen experienced News Anchors mispronounce these words: For an example pronounce these two words: 1. Wagram 2. Strother. Those two words I’m familiar with the way they are pronounced, yet every News Anchor on the World News mispronounce those words. The City Of Fayetteville, NC., were mispronounce two days ago, concerning the violin players being bumped off a flight in Charlotte, NC. Not counting Former Vice-President. Dan Quayle, with the Potato misspelling. Words, are sometimes spoken according to where you are from, the local residents in and area will not probably pronounce a word the same as you. The word Pecan in the South, is pronounce different when some Northerners pronounce the same word.

    • I agree with you!!! I would like for someone to tell me what they have against Sharpton. Just curious, because I never see anything positive said about him on this site.

  2. Rev Sharpton… is Old School… he is tongue tied…LOL

  3. The question is this,is Al Sharpton a spokeperson for BLACK AMERICA ?If so,we are in trouble. Our children have the same problem as Sharpton. He needs to study pronunciations of people’s names that he will make comments about prior to him going on air.It is inconceivable that he clearly pronounces so many names so poorly. He clearly needs to polish up on this skill or lack thereof.

    • Because Al Sharpton has let down the black community and has been used as a false representation of us so we do not support things he does that is not representing us appropriately. He has used his blackness to a fault against us and has allowed to be used as a pawn by others to our demise. That is why.

  4. His handlers are at fault. They need to do with him how you teach children words sound them out and write it in a way he can pronounce them. It’s called job security.

  5. Oh Al, you really, REALLY blew it. As much as I like you, I must say that you are becoming a total embarrassment.

  6. …and what was so difficult about “iced tea and skittles”? He said I tea and kittles. Maybe he needs to have his dentures adjusted (if that’s possible) Geeez.

  7. Shopton!

    • Al Sharpton as we know from his past have been a perfect orator. This could be some type of medical condition that he does not want to discuss, for example medications can throw you off on your syllables, and if you look at his weight, in considered to his past, he’s skin and bones. Something is altering his syllables, similar to a stroke victim. So lets not past judgment on him at this time. Plus he’s turning 60 years old in October.

  8. Al Sharpton is an example among others that black American group achievement is not a serious thing.

  9. Jealousy?

  10. Al Sharpton is a very intelligent man and has just as much right if not more to be where he is than all of the detractors and “wannabes.” All of these negative comments from these average writers on “Your Black World” are rapidly moving me to the point of unsubscribing from this media. I’m really sick of it!

  11. It's is wrong. It should read its.

  12. I think he has dyslexia

  13. Indeed, Sharpton is not to be taken too seriously, or anyone for the matter that white folks have an active part in presenting to Black People!!

  14. How can we look at her face? The video is not there!

  15. So what leave Al alone he’s a smart man love you Al.

  16. Love you Al I never miss your she

  17. Love you Al I never miss your show

  18. I think it's the perm….

  19. Once again We gang banging on each other!!!!! Speak Brother Sharpton ( We all understand you) somebody has to stand up , somebody anybody, nobody is going to do it because We are all scared… " Nobody snitches more than Black Folk" at least you snitched on the "Italians boyes" remember the movie the God Father Blacks have no souls…

  20. For one thing, Iyanla Vanzant is not her real name so maybe Rev Al knew her from that name and he has been on Saturday night live making fun of himself . So. What if he speaks with a southern drawl, that has nothing to do with all he’s done for his people. I love and admire rev al

    • Reverand Al has done nothing for Black people- has he helped to create jobs, end racial bias and profiling in ny, created homes, saved the homes from people who lost them in harlem when the white people who moved from lower manhattan came and kicked the poor people out of housing in Harlem, where his action network was first started. Did he help save the Apollo no he helped sell out the Apollo what has he done for black people please list them cause I have been following him from before the Tawanna Brawley and liposuction her had… before the perm…

  21. Quit hating on Rev. Al . Coming from where he was and to achieve the things he has done , and is still doing, the brother is doing the best he can with what he's got.

  22. I think Al Sharpton could benefit from some speech therapy. I don’t remember him being so inarticulate back in his hey day of the 1980’s. Maybe he is just having difficulty reading the tele prompter or something.

  23. Al, never did anything without ulterior motives for himself. As far as helping blacks is concern, he helped himself at the expense of blacks. I for one never took Sharpton serious, I always thought he was just fronting to get himself out there. I look at Sharpton just like I look at Clarence, an empty vessel without a cause.

  24. No he isn't I am from harlem andhe hasn't done anything still yet we were there whenhe first started stop believing what YOU think you're a reading and start researching to see actual facts of what he has not been doing. Getting on the television and in front of reporters is not doing anything when people he walks with gets arrested and he doesn't.. Please wake up and stop spreadinglies he himself is a snitch he himself helped to sink the deal to get the Apollo out of our hands.

  25. Al Sharpton is not a representation of all BLACK Americans he is a representation of himself- are you a representation of all with the name Muhammad come on now…

  26. You are absolutely right people who only watch tv believe just cause you see his face and hear his words but his action network produced a lot of inaction on the real front for blacks. People don't even do research they just watch tv…

  27. I do not get what you are saying. Can you say that in another way?

  28. Kay Bee All I'm saying is that Al Sharpton is not a serious person to depend on for our progress and if Black people were serious themselves we would have put him out of the way a long time ago. So I'm saying that Black people as a group are not seriously accomplishing anything because if we were serious the first thing we would do is get these clowns out of the picture, but we can't because we don't control anything.

  29. It's just that simple. It's not rocket science. But black Americans are so divided half of us can't understand that. We still on the plantation waiting on marching orders.

  30. Yes you are true but as you can see even by this post many are blinded by his face on tv appearing to have done so much when he has done nothing but talk. And that is the problem people especially our own rather believe whats on tv than do any research to see the truth they believe if it aint on tv then its not true yet tv the media is all controlled. But you are right Muhammad Saadiq Ewing

  31. I agree with you 100%. I will add that Black Americans are some of the most divided people on the planet and a big part of that is we just don't look at the issues correctly or understand what or who is valuable. . Too many black people are just living on what's given to them and not really thinking. Al Sharpton is played out he needs to go run a village or something.

  32. I don't think anybody has to stand up if they're going to do a half azz job. I believe in people keeping they mouth shut can do wonders. One of the biggest problems black Americans have is REACTING to what they throw at us in the media and the clowns they have "so called" representing us. And why should we give a damn what they say about us in a movie? There it is again taking our HEAD LESSONS from the media.

  33. But black people don't need it. Al Sharpton is a bad actor playing the role of a person standing up for black people. He is like one of these preachers. I grew up in the neighborhood and I never once saw one of those rich preachers walk down the block and talk to us. They just wait on the cameras and the crowds and the money and women. I was in a barber shop one day in Pomona California and I heard a dude say "My uncle just started a church." and somebody said, "Your uncle is good in business.". That was almost 20 years ago and that statement stuck with me.

  34. they probably like him cos he appears flawed.
