A New Jersey man who threw his daughter in a river while she was still strapped in her car seat admits that he is sorry for the break up with the girl’s mother, but did not apologize for mυrdering his own child.
Arthur Morgan III was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday for tossing his daughter, Tierra Morgan-Glover, into a river in 2011.
Speaking prior to his sentencing, Morgan, 29, said he was being persecuted for wearing luxury clothes to court. He also said the media portrayed him in a negative light when they published photos of him winking at the camera after a jury found him guilty. Morgan says he was winking at his sister to let her know that he was OK with the verdict.
Morgan also took the time to apologize to his child’s mother for the demise of their relationship.
“I want to say I’m sorry for the deterioration of what I thought was a beautiful friendship between the two of us that blossomed into a daughter,” Morgan told Imani Benton. “For anybody that was truly affected by this, I hope we can all heal from this situation, knowing Tierra is in a better place.”
Tierra’s mother says she hopes Morgan suffers while he’s behind bars.
“This child was alive when she was placed in the water in pitch darkness, and had to suffer the unthinkable action of having water rush in and fill her lungs while strapped into that car seat,” the judge said during sentencing. “This child sυffered before she died.”
