Even though the hockey series is only two games in, the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadians are having a rough time already. P.K. Subban of the Canadians is having an especially hard time dealing with some fans from Boston who were less than impressed with his game-winning goal. They took to Twitter to express their displeasure with the fact that their team lost, but they did it in the most classless way possible. Here are a few of the tweets that were sent out against Subban:

– “That stupid n***** doesn’t belong in hockey #whitesonly”

– “F*** you subban you f****** lucky ass n*****!”

– “F*** PK Subban. F****** n*****. Wish he got sold”

The list goes on from there with even more hateful comments from Bruins faithfuls. It was a tense first game of the series that went into overtime. Many Boston fans were appalled at the actions of these fans and state that not everyone who is cheering for Boston is that classless and disrespectful. Several of the Twitter users that posted racist comments took them down shortly after they started gaining national attention.

The reactions continued after an intense game 2 when Shawn Thornton of Bruins was coming to steal the puck from Subban. This play resorted in Thornton crashing into Subban. Fans felt that because Thorton’s slight injury could’ve been a career-ending, it was even more of a reason to hate on Subban. Of course, it was most likely not Subban’s intention to take Thornton down the way that he did.

Surprisingly, Subban didn’t seem to take much offense to the whole ordeal. Here’s what he had to say:

This is the first time and probably the last time I’ll comment on it. First things first: the Boston Bruins is an Original Six franchise. They’ve been around for a very long time. They’re respected. It is completely unfair for anybody to point the finger at the organization or the fan base. They’ve got passionate fans here. Since I’ve been in the league, it’s been awesome. I’ve come to Boston many times. My family has come here and it’s been great.

What people may say on Twitter and social media is not a reflection by any means of the league or the Boston Bruins. So, whoever that is, they’ll get dealt with, but it’s completely separate from this league or the Boston Bruins organization.

You know what the funny thing is? We get stronger as a league. You see how people come together and it’s great and it’s not just about me.

The NHL has tons of players from different backgrounds, from different places around the world and that’s what makes this league so special. That’s what makes sports so special, it brings everybody together. So, another great hockey game today. I’m sure everybody enjoyed it, I look forward to the rest of the series and everybody else should, too.
