Pharrell Williams, who is still riding the hot streak of a movie theme song that brought him an Academy Award nomination and a live performance slot during the show in March, conspired with fellow musicians Alisha Keys and Kendrick Lamar on a new track for the soon to be released “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.”
MTV reported on a 47-second teaser of the song “It’s on Again,” that splices movie scenes with music video clips. Pharrell makes a brief appearance, peering through a surveillance system, as film composer Hans Zimmer conducts.
“The teaser’s true heroes are the musical ones as Kendrick Lamar and Alicia Keys look ready for action,” MTV reports. “Before the preview closes we see a punk-styled Keys sitting in a chair, lifting her head, ready to sing her song before the whole thing fades to black.”
The song released online in March.
Kendric opens with the line, “And everybody knows the story of David and Goliath/ But this is bigger than triumph/ This is for the warrior/ This is for you and I.”
Keys then enters, featuring her signature piano work and soaring vocals set to Williams’ thumping, string-laden beat.
For Williams it could be one more hit in a long hot-streak. He announced in March that he is teaming with Adidas for a new shoe line. The red-hot singer and music producer, winner of seven Grammy’s and an Oscar nominee for his hit theme song, “Happy” and was on the cover of GQ earlier this month.
The anticipated Spider sequel will release next month.
