Samuel L. Jackson Appears In His Next Installment Of A Nine Picture Deal With Marvel Comics
Samuel Jackson is back again as Nick Fury and Marvel couldn’t be more pleased reports the nydailynews.com. We first caught a glimpse of the iconic character in the epilogue of Iron Man back in 2008. Now 6 years and many movies later, Fury is back in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It was a fore-shadow for things to come, but even Marvel didn’t expect all these movies would get made. Originally, Jackson signed a nine movie deal.
Sam Jackson, who plays the eye-patched hero, knows the character inside and out, so you better step off with anything that is not congruent with Fury’s persona. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo wanted a scene with Jackson pulling a high-tech super type gun in a fit of rage or frustration, but he refused because Nick Fury wouldn’t do that. Jackson did not comply.
“There are certain things Nick Fury is going to do and if you don’t understand them, you can ask me, but you’re not going to tell me they’re wrong,” said Jackson. Reason being, Fury doesn’t blow his stack and start blowing bad-guys away, he is more calculating. There is a reason Fury leads S.H.I.E.L.D. and survived 6 movies.
Marvel producers admitted that making nine movies was a bit aggressive at the time. They love that a multi-picture franchise has been built with all the different movies. The one constant for all the films is the Nick Fury character. Jackson said that the role is great and can serve as a role model for others in a world that isn’t racially diverse.
Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios producer said that Jackson is the glue between all the movies.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier opening date is Friday, April 4th. The film will also debut on the big screen super hero The Falcon (played by Anthony Mackie) and fan favorite Scarlett Johansson returning as the Black Widow.
