The second season of the BET Show, “Being Mary Jane,” is set to start soon, and the production team is continuing to add to the cast in preparation. BET’s website reports that the show started in January 2014. It was created by Mara Brock Akil and stars Gabrielle Union. The show is built around Mary Jane Paul, a successful talk show host played by Union. The plot centers on her personal and private life as she searches for Mr. Right and highlights the issues faced by black women who are successful and motivated in their professional lives but do not necessarily enjoy the same success in their personal lives with their families and in their love life.
Madame Noir is reporting that Salli Richardson is the latest addition to the, “Being Mary Jane,” cast. She will be joining the show as a longtime friend of Mary Jane, and although there are not many other details about the role she will play in the show, she is expected to play in at least five episodes during the second season. Madame Noir is also reporting that Mike Epps joined the series earlier in the month. He will play character Chris Warren who will portray a married family man that Mary Jane comes to envy since he has a life that she yearns for.
Those speculating about how this seasons plot will unfold are wondering if Epps’ character will help motivate Mary Jane to leave her less than desirable boyfriend Andre. Fans are also hoping that the appearance of the longtime friend played by Richardson will help Mary Jane ditch some of the friends she has who are not positive influences in her life. Fans seem ready to see how the second season will unfold, and it will be interesting to see how the new additions to the cast affect the shows plot and ratings.
