Anthony Mackie and his girlfriend

Reported by Marie S.

Actor Anthony Mackie has his career going uphill.  After playing the role of a U.S. bomb disposal team in Iraq in the Oscar-winning drama titled “The Hurt Locker,” he now plays the role of Sam or Samuel Wilson“Falcon” in the movie Marvel film titled “Captain America:  The Winter Soldier,” which topped the box office last weekend, grossing $96.2 million and making it  April’s biggest release so far.

Mackie, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, was born on September 23, 1978.  He studied in the NOCCA (New Orleans Center for Creative Arts ) and went through high school at the NCSA (North Carolina School of the Arts) where he finished a high school drama program in 1997. Later, he attended the Juilliard School’s Drama Division  and graduated as a member of Group 30 in the years 1997–2001.

Already becoming a household name for his role as Falcon, he is yet gaining more popularity, not because of a next film, but rather because of his love life.  Guesting in the “Queen Latifah Show,” he was asked if there had been a “Mrs. Falcon” in his life.  Mackie matter-of-factly replied  that he had a “Falconette,”  that he’d been dating  off and on since he was seven.  He added that she was someone in the second grade  who “beat him up for his lunch money.”  Queen Latifah asked if he had known that he was going to be crazy about his girlfriend for the rest of his life and he replied, almost instantly, “I did.  It was funny. I was coming from a very bad school and going to a very good school.  And when I walked into second grade it was Dr. Seuss Day, and we had the little hot plate out and the teacher was making green eggs and ham. So I walked in and I looked, and I see this little girl with these ratty pigtails and skinny legs, and I was like ‘WOW!’”

When asked about the best advice he’s received about women, Mackie replied “My uncle said, ‘Listen more, talk less.’

Well three cheers to the success of the first week of the release of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”   Already much reason for Mackie to celebrate, but,  an incredibly almost 30-year relationship from since the second grade, seems to be a much better reason for a celebration.

  1. CHERISH THE LIFE….CHERISH THE LOVE

  2. That is absolutely adorable

  3. He says he'd been "dating off and on since he was seven." (Who starts "dating" at seven years old?) So we must assume that they both have been involved with other people throughout the years. Many people reconnect with childhood friends. This is just a tabloid promotion story.

  7. I ‘BIG UP’ THEIR LOVE. DUDE IS IN MID 30’S, AND THEY STILL LOVE EACH OTHER. YO ‘ANT’ DO WHAT YOUR UNCLE TELLS YOU SON. I DATED SOMEONE ON-AND-OFF FROM THE AGE 13-31(MOST ON). I’M 50 NOW. ALTHOUGH I’M IN A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP WITH A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN, I STILL WONDER SOMETIMES…….THAT WAS LOVE MOST MEN WOULD NEVER EXPERIENCE. I SCREWED UP. LIKE I SAID MY CURRENT ‘LOVE’ IS WONDERFUL. HANG ON TO HER ANTHONY WITH ALL YOUR MIGHT, BECAUSE @ THE END OF THE DAY SHE MATTERS. NO PLAY, TV SHOW, VIDEO OR FILM COULD EVER REPLACE HER. I WISH THEM THE VERY BEST.
