During Oprah’s Life Class, Nia long gave advice to Malikah, a single mom from Jamaica, New York, about how she can deal with her man and son’s bonding progression. She passionately proclaimed that both of them, her son and man, are interested in music but the bonding has not evolved to an interactive relationship.
Nia Long, co-Star in Tyler Perry’s movie “The Single Moms Club” is currently dating Ime Udoka, a former NBA player. Long expressed that she went through some of the same emotions with her partner bonding with her 9 year old son. In the video Malikah describes her son and man’s relationship as superficial, “He treats him like a colleague, “said Malikah.
Long explained that men are different than women in how they communicate and learn relationship components. She continued promoting the fact that, she must watch the relationship and let it formulate to its potential. Long stated that she has left the house on several occasions to allow for them to bond.
“But what I’ve learned to do is remove myself from trying to define what their relationship is and looks like,” Nia says. “Men have a very different way of communicating,” said Long.
Long explained her view of how the fellows in her life communicate, which allows them to learn each other in their own way. She is not micromanaging their relationship, but she will intervene if needed.
“Give them time and just make sure that you’re comfortable with whatever they come up with.”
The show addressed some very interesting points about single moms and the issues they face. The panel that included Tyler Perry, Actor and Producer with his upcoming film “Single Mom Club” that will be released on March 14th, Iyanla Vanzant that has the TV show Iyanla: Fix My Life, and Nia Long premiered on OWN.
