Stunning 43 year old, Nia Long has been swept into film with Tyler Perry‘s upcoming box office original “The Single Mom’s Club,” that premieres in theaters on March 14, 2014.
NAACP award winner, Long was working on the cast of `House of Lies’ when she received the call from Perry to be a lead cast member in the upcoming film.
“Tyler called and said, “Look I need you… Can you do this?” She said, “I don’t know how I am going to do this.”
Long felt that it would be impossible to take on the additional assignment, but Tyler assured her that he would work out the details.
According to the exclusive interview with HipHollywood the film was completed in about 17 days, and it went by extremely fast. Long commended Tyler for his well-organized production, while making each of the lead cast members feel like “Queens”.
“It was the most well-oiled machine, you’ve ever seen operate,” Long said about Perry’s production. “You get there, you’re treated like a queen, and you have fresh flowers in your trailer every day.”
Long will be playing one of the single mothers who is brought together in a support group, after an incident occurred at their children’s school. As Long was hearing about the character that she would be playing, her cast curiosity was intensified.
“I asked Tyler, `So who’s playing my son in the film?’ and he goes, `Well I don’t know. We’ll probably get a kid from Atlanta.’ And I said, `Well you know my son is the same age as the character.’ He goes, `Really? I didn’t realize that.’ And I said `Yeah.’”
Her son Massai, 11, went through some training with Betty Bridges (Long‘s acting coach) and auditioned for the part as her son. He got the part, and he was able to be with her during the film production in Atlanta.
