Full Force group member Bow Legged Lou wrote a letter of appreciation to Questlove and The Roots wishing them continued success on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon according to The Electronic Urban Report. The catalyst for the gesture was Questlove’s participation in the hit TV show Unsung, in particular the episode that featured Full Force.
The Roots will be the first hip-hop genre band on the Tonight Show in its many year history. They are following the legacy of many iconic band leaders that have been a fixture on the Tonight Show.
“We love you Ahmir & we wish you the best as you’ve always continued to elevate your game along with our other brothers from THE ROOTS as not only being a great, great hip hop band, but being a versatile great show biz band period,” wrote Bow Legged Lou.
The Unsung episode that featured the Brooklyn bred group Full Force was the highest rated in TV One’s history. Questlove appeared on that episode as a featured guest adding verbal vignettes about the group. Questlove is fixture on many musical documentaries and music true stories, his additions are very insightful and entertaining.
One of Questlove’s most famous lines was on another show profiling NWA and when he first heard their songs he joked that he thought they were going to come and kick his butt. His signature look and style is always a wonderful addition to documentaries and true stories about music groups.
Full Force is an 80s R&B group that wrote and produced hit albums for themselves and many other groups including Janet Jackson, Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears to name a few. They are also known as the bullies in the movie House Party.
The Roots made their debut on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that featured a whirlwind of celebrity cameos and a performance by U2.
