.84 million Viewers! That’s a way to set a record. Indiewire.com reports the Tyler Perry drama; The Haves and the Have Nots set a record this past Tuesday night (1/21/14) by drawing a record 2.84 million total viewers on the latest episode.
‘The Haves and the Have Nots, has seen a +2% increase in total viewers over the season premiere (01/07/14), and posted double digit growth compared to last week’s episode, which rose +11% in total viewers (01/14/14).
Among the ladies ages 25-54, Tuesday’s episode of “The Haves and the Have Nots,” was the number one (1) cable telecast in its time period (9:30pm) and the number three (3) cable telecast for the night. The episode, which was the third one in the show’s second season, ranked as the #3 telecast in OWN history among total viewers, trailing “Oprah’s Next Chapter” with Bobbi Kristina (03/11/12) and “Oprah’s Next Chapter” with Lance Armstrong(01/17/13).
The show is an American primetime television soap opera created by executive producer, Tyler Perry. The premise of the series is based on Perry’s 2011 play The Haves and the Have Nots. The show premiered on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at 9/8c on the Oprah Winfrey Network. The show was the first scripted television series to air on OWN. Each episode of the series runs for an hour (42 minutes plus commercials).
During the show’s first season, it received numerous widely publicized series highs in ratings, including its July 30 episode, its August 6 episode, its August 13 episode, its August 27 episode, and most notably with its season one finale on September 3rd. Within its first season alone, The Haves and the Have Nots has been acclaimed as being “one of OWN’s biggest success stories with its weekly dose of soapy fun, filled with the typical betrayals, affairs, manipulations and a bitch slap or two”(Variety Magazine).
