Porsha Stewart recently embarrassed herself, her family and the entire public school system when she admitted that she thought that the Underground Railroad was an actual train. During a classic episode of Real Housewives, Porsha did a tour of a black history museum and asked a series of questions that made the other cast members realize that she actually thought that the Underground Railroad and it’s “conductors” actually had trains with motors that took slaves from the south to the north.
During an interview with Andy Cohen, Porsha finally addressed the craziness of the episode, seeking to explain her way out of a dirty paper bag. This is when she addressed the scandal that has been dubbed “Railroad Gate.” Being a descendant of civil rights activist Hosea Williams, Porsha had a lot of explaining to do.
“First, I’d like to say that when I watched that I realized that was another Porsha moment. You know a little airy there. Just a brain lapse. I felt like I definitely needed to correct that even for myself. I went back and just brushed up on what I already know. One thing about it that’s a very sensitive topic for me. I do want to represent that part of my life and my legacy better than I did,” she said.
Porsha credits her fast-moving brain for the fatal mistake that caused an entire nation to cringe with disgust.
“At that moment we were all trying to figure something out and my brain was just going to fast and it was just going faster than I was speaking. And I literally couldn’t get it together at that moment,” she said.
It’s sad, but unfortunately, Porsha represents a lot of products of our failing public schools. And since so many kids are getting educated by reality TV these days, it doesn’t look like things are going to get any better.
