Porsha Stewart Explains Why She Thought The Underground Railroad was a Real Train

Porsha Stewart recently embarrassed herself, her family and the entire public school system when she admitted that she thought that the Underground Railroad was an actual train.  During a classic episode of Real Housewives, Porsha did a tour of a black history museum and asked a series of questions that made the other cast members realize that she actually thought that the Underground Railroad and it’s “conductors” actually had trains with motors that took slaves from the south to the north.

During an interview with Andy Cohen, Porsha finally addressed the craziness of the episode, seeking to explain her way out of a dirty paper bag.   This is when she addressed the scandal that has been dubbed “Railroad Gate.”  Being a descendant of civil rights activist Hosea Williams, Porsha had a lot of explaining to do.

“First, I’d like to say that when I watched that I realized that was another Porsha moment. You know a little airy there. Just a brain lapse. I felt like I definitely needed to correct that even for myself. I went back and just brushed up on what I already know. One thing about it that’s a very sensitive topic for me. I do want to represent that part of my life and my legacy better than I did,” she said.

Porsha credits her fast-moving brain for the fatal mistake that caused an entire nation to cringe with disgust.

“At that moment we were all trying to figure something out and my brain was just going to fast and it was just going faster than I was speaking. And I literally couldn’t get it together at that moment,” she said.

It’s sad, but unfortunately, Porsha represents a lot of products of our failing public schools.  And since so many kids are getting educated by reality TV these days, it doesn’t look like things are going to get any better.

  3. You shouldn't be able to act without an education. Just like athletes but unfortunately they're skating too! EACH ONE TEACH ONE!

  4. Descendant? Though it's true, it sounds almost like being someone's 7th generation cousin, on your mama's side. She's Hosea Williams' granddaughter. They let that women out of the house being that unaware? Yikes!

  5. Is she a college educated woman?

  6. Terrible!

  7. Also, her parents need a kick in the butt. I learned African-American history at a private christian school, at a HBCU and most of all from my PARENTS.

  8. That excuse was even "dummer!"..lol

  9. Porsha your crazy but I still love you 🙂

  10. It’s not that serious, James. I read this article in a messy queen’s voice complete with neck roll and snaps. No wonder black journalism is average with stupid stories like this. Porsha just did this probably to keep attention to her storyline. Oldest trick in the book.

  11. BS

  12. the sad part Is some people are actually talking about the system educated any of us. the system makes Us circus animals us you must educate yourself. just looked at how many of you actually are watching this who are college educated?..lmao

  13. I would not blame that on the public school system. Most people attended public school and most people know the underground railroad was not an actual railroad. We learned about how they traveled and hid, and how at it's most basic there were stops along the way "safe houses" and how they would leave a candle burning in the window alerting stow away slaves, that it was safe to come in to eat, bath, and rest before they went on to complete their journey.

  14. Rochelle, do you hear yourself? There simply is no, absolutely no excuse for Porsha Stewart’s ignorance. Please do not associate yourself with her stupidity–it’s not flattering. Peace

  15. Roz, please hip yourself to transparent game being played and don’t waste my time with what your faux flattery is. Porsha is on a reality show trying to extend her storyline, and this raggedy black journalist is part of the hype machine. Yes, the tone in his writing was two snaps, neck roll, and a twist. James is being typically extra over a reality faux TV show. Do you think with Porsha background she’s that stupid?

  16. Yes she's that stupid …… she knew exactly what she was saying heck she was even convincing herself she was rt..

  17. Don't blame any AMERICAN PUBLIC SCHOOL systems for her not KNOWING, the blame shifts to the parents….period.,…" A child taught only at school is a uneducated child"….my parents taught me MORE about myself and my culture/background than ANY public school has or EVER will!… Knowledge is empowering, the more you know, the more you can conquer ..so yea..of course they are not going to teach the FULL TRUTH!… 😉

  18. Judging by her epic fail on national TV, and her subsequent excuse; she doesn't strike me as being the brightest crayon in the box. I don't even recall learning about the underground railroad in school. I'm pretty sure I learned about it in church.

  19. I remember learning cus i did a book report about harriet tubman..im just different i guess i know my history..it was my favorite subject!

  20. Ain't no explaining that!!! She should just be quiet n study, study, study.

  22. I wrote that!!

  23. My grandmother told me about that. Schools didn't really put any emphasis on subjects like that. But then I saw Roots, my mind was open and has continued to learn more.

  24. Yesterday, while I was at work, my cousin stole my
apple ipad and tested to see if it can survive a 25 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation.
My apple ipad is now destroyed and she has 83 views.
I know this is entirely off topic but I had to share it with someone!
