“Herlarious”, wholesome, and now a producing partner with Nickelodeon, the comedian Wanda Sykes is getting down to business! Sykes is teaming up with Page Hurwitz. Page Hurwitz, is a producer and writer known for such greats as Last Comic Standing (2003), The Rosie Show (2011) and Wisecrack (2005).
The two power women join the cabler’s Nickmom. The unnamed project will join a slate of new series under development from a reality competition to a “docu-comedy.” The shows development comes months after Sykes and Hurwitz, through their Push It production company, linked a pact with NBC to bring back Last Comic Standing in the summer via their Universal TV overall deal.
Nickmom also has the green light for six episodes of the brand new hidden camera series, Undercover Cupid (working title), from executive producer Scott Stone (Brain Surge).
“We are thrilled to be collaborating with the talented Wanda Sykes and Page Hurwitz, to develop the hilarious new content for Nickmom”, said Bronwen O’Keefe, Senior Vice President, Nickmom. “Nickmom will continue to deliver the funny this year with brand new episodes of our signature series Parental Discretion with Stefanie Wilder-Taylor and Take Me to Your Mother, plus exciting projects in the works that will deliver our special brand of mom comedy.” Sykes, the mother of twins stated, “I know firsthand that there is a lot of comedy in parenting, a lot of drinking too, but we’re focusing on the comedy.”
Nickmom will air daily from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. PST/EST on Nick Jr. Sykes’ OWN show, Herlarious, which aired in July, highlighted female comics. Sykes continues to raise the bar for comics. Comedy, writing, or producing, the collaboration of this dynamic duo, Sykes and Hurwitz, Nickmom has no choice but to be a big success and full of laughs.
