Season six is about to start for The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Reality queen, Ne Ne Leakes is holding no punches and letting everyone know this season of the show will be hotter than ever and that the Atlanta Housewives show is better than all the reality housewives shows out there.
Just last week the Bravo series, The Real Housewives of Atlanta shattered ratings records scoring a Real Housewives franchise high with over 4.5 million total viewers. Ne Ne says the high ratings are simply because The Real Housewives of Atlanta is better than all the other Housewives series. “Our show is definitely better than the other Housewives shows. No shade to the other girls…they are blonde we are brown, so there is a difference, “NeNe told theGrio’s Chris Witherspoon. We’re more relatable, our issues are real, and we have the least amount of plastic surgery, while some of these other girls are nipped and tucked. “We’re just very real.”
NeNe does not just want to stop with RHOA. During a 2012 interview with theGrio, NeNe revealed that her ultimate goal is to host her own hour- long talk show. The Glee actress has repeatedly been approached to do so, but says she won’t be drawing any inspiration from former Housewife turned talk show host, Bethenny Frankel. Frankel is the founder of Skinnygirl and former star of The Real Housewives of New York City. Frankel is still legally married to Jason Hoppy; the two are in the middle of a divorce and battling over custody of their daughter, Bryn.
“I wouldn’t say I am inspired by Bethenny. Bethenny is a vanilla girl. I am a brown girl and there are different doors that we have to walk through. Bethenny wouldn’t walk the same path as I would walk.” NeNe stated. NeNe echoed comments that Omarosa made during a confrontational appearance on the Bethenny show just a few months ago. “It’s different for you and I,” Omarosa told Bethenny. “I am an African American woman. You get to walk around and be mediocre and still get rewarded with things. We have to be exceptional to get anything in this business.”
Lastly, NeNe weighed in on the growing list of Housewives turned singers and also discussed RHOA star Porsha Williams and her plans to soon release a single, followed up by a 5 track EP. “I definitely can sing. I think that (the Housewives) have made a mockery out of it…A lot of these girls comin’ out singing who really can’t sing. It’s like a mockery. I don’t want to be a part of that whole circle.”
NeNe also said, “I think Porsha is talented. I think she can sing, I just think that it’s not taken seriously enough, hopefully it will work well for Porsha.”
