Beyonce is standing by her man in the middle of his controversial decision to stand by Barneys after allegations of racial profiling surfaced against the company. Jay-Z’s claim that he isn’t making money from the Christmas collection is contradicted by his intense push to promote the products in his new line. If you’ve listened to Jay-Z’s lyrics over the last 20 years, you’ll know that he doesn’t typically do anything for free.
Beyonce looked lovely in the very strange-looking ring-watch-whatever she is wearing in the picture above. Would you buy one of those? It looks like something a person might use to punch someone out in the alley.
Of course there is also the Rich Owens Crocodile Jacket, which costs a whopping $58,000. Maybe people should just buy a really nice $300 jacket and spend the other $57,700 feeding homeless children.
Jay-Z recently spoke about the Barneys racial profiling incident, explaining that he was still going to continue working with the company, despite calls that he end his affiliation. His response was that he would be a part of a special committee set up to review the policies and practices of the company. Some are skeptical, however, since Jay-Z once assured that his presence on the ownership team of the Brooklyn Nets would lead to protection for the community through the creation of living wage jobs. But as soon as the company used Jay-Z to get the city’s support for their new arena, Jay-Z sold his tiny stake and moved on. Also, while Jay-Z was presented to the public as a full owner of the Nets, it turned out that his ownership stake was superficial at best – he only owned 1/15th of one percent of the team. That means that if you cut the company up into 1,500 pieces, Jay-Z would have just one.
Oh, that Knuckle-ring thingy being modeled by Beyonce? That will cost you $12,500. And we wonder why some people stay broke, even after making big money.
