CeeLo’s Illegal Activities Starting To Catch Up With Him
Prosecutors in Los Angeles plan to charge CeeLo Green with furnishing ecstasy to a lady who also claimed that CeeLo had sεx with her. However, the prosecutors decided not to file sεxual assault charges against the singer due to insufficient evidence.
Last year, Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, aka CeeLo Green, was accused of mixing ecstasy in her drink when they dined at a sushi restaurant in downtown Los Angeles. The 33 year old woman told LA police detectives that she found herself naked in bed with the 39 year old singer in a room. CeeLo Green will be charged with ecstasy possession and will have to appear in court in downtown LA by November 20.
CeeLo, who became famous because of his “Forget You” hit in 2010 and his stint as a “The Voice” judge, pleaded not guilty to the charge. The singer started his career with Goodie Mob before becoming famous as a member of Gnarls Barkley. According to Blair Berk, CeeLo’s attorney, the 39-year-old singer encouraged the investigation because he is confident that a complete and full investigation will ultimately clear his name. He is out on a $30,000 bail and will return to court next month. If convicted, he may be sentenced up to four years in state prison.
LA investigators said that there were discrepancies in the woman’s story so the prosecutors had to drop the sεxual assault case. She was said to have taped her conversation with the singer but CeeLo didn’t say anything about giving ecstasy to her. He, however, referred to the drug. He is believed to go on probation if convicted because it is only his first offense.
In a TMZ interview, Blair Berk said that her client had consensual sεx and the felony charge will be addressed responsibly by CeeLo in court.
