Walter Easley is a South Carolina teenager that has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty after he posted a Vine video of himself allegedly kicking a cat off of his porch. The video is entitled “F**k wrong with that cat” and has since been removed from the site along with the associated account.
The video instantly garnered negative attention and went viral. Most of the viewers left behind comments that scolded Easley because of his treatment towards the cat. None of the backlash seemed to faze Easley very much, he was more concerned with bragging about all the attention that his video brought him. Easley posted tweets saying, “Yo I can’t stop laughing at these Vine comments lol” and “1,419 revines 993 likes and 456 comments lol sh*t crazy foreal.”
Online hacker community 4Chan caught wind of the video and instantly began to harass Easley by placing his personal information on the internet and by attacking his Twitter page. They also attacked one of his associate’s on Twitter known as @buck4411, who responded to critics of the video with a post of his own. “Let me just say that I love my boy @SuckMy_Walt no matter what no one says he the best guy I know.” Another user chimed in saying, “Free my boy Walt! That’s ridiculous.. ”
Local law enforcement eventually caught wind of the video and arrested Easley in his home for cruelty to animals. Easley claims he didn’t actually kick the cat, he says that he simply threw the feline and edited the video to make it appear as if he kicked it.
If Easley is found guilty of the crime he could face up to sixty days in jail; all for some internet fame. It’s crazy the ways young people are sabotaging their futures for a few likes and comments on various social networking sites.
