Lebron James showed a compassionate side of himself as he accepted his fourth MVP award.

Lebron “King” James, has been given many titles in his career, from narcissist, to self-promoting, to coward, etc. when he angered fans, owners, and reporters for leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers to join Miami Heat. Out of the number of titles he has been given, his favorite is probably MVP.

This year, James racked up his fourth MVP award and delivered a sincere acceptance speech, thanking his mother, his future wife, and his future in-laws. It’s a drastic turnaround from the remark he made at a press conference in 2011 when he was asked if he’s bothered by people who are rooting for his failure. James replied: “Absolutely Not, cause at the end of the day, Ummmm, all the people who are rooting for me to fail, ummm, at the end of the day, they have to wake up tomorrow and have the same life that they had before they woke up today, they got the same personal problems they had, today. You know, and I’m gonna continue to live the way I want to live, and continue to do the things I wannna do with me and my family …they gotta get back to the real world at some point.

Here’s what a more compassionate James had to say during his MVP acceptance speech:

To my wife-to-be, I want to thank you for the sacrifices you make every single day. With me being a professional athlete and not being home every day or as much as you would like, I thank you for your support and what you do for our boys. I don’t even think they know I’m about to thank them, but this is for my Future mother and father-in-law. I thank them for the sacrifices they make every single day for our two boys. When I’m traveling on the road and playing games and Savannah’s all over the world having wedding meetings about a table or a chandelier going up, you guys wake up in the morning and take LeBron, Jr. and Bryce to school every single day, pick them up every single day, pick them up from practice and help them with their homework. You guys are a blessing to me more than you guys know. And I appreciate you so much.
