During the meeting, the media was briefed on four proposals to renovate the Coliseum. It is not clear how much Jay-Z will be involved in the redevelopment process. Nassau Coliseum is home to the New York Islanders hockey team, but after their lease expires, they will be moving to Brooklyn. According to thegrio.com, Roc Nation is bidding for the Nassau Coliseum project.
If Jay-Z wins his bid for the venue it will add to his long growing list of ventures. Jay-Z, along with Damon Dash was the founder of Rocawear clothing line. He sold his rights to the company in 2007, but still has a stake in the company. He owns the 40/40 Clubs, which got their start in New York City and has since expanded to Atlantic City and Chicago.
In 2005 Jay-Z became an investor in the African American hair product line, Carol’s Daughter, in which his sister-in-law, Solange Knowles was a spokesperson for. The rapper turned entrepreneur also owned a part of the NBA team , the Brooklyn Nets, has an investment in a line of hotels, and currently launched his own sports agency, Roc Nation Sports. As a result of starting his sports agency, Jay-Z had to relinquish his shares in the Brooklyn Nets, in order to represent basketball clients.
On top of all the things that Jay-Z is involved in, the mogul had some time to lend his hand to the film Gastby as the musical director, scoring the soundtrack for the film. He is currently on the Suit and Tie tour with Justin Timberlake. Decisions on who will be a part of the redevelopment project for Nassau Coliseum will be announced this summer.
