Everyone knows there isn’t a monolithic approach to parenting. Some parents are known to have an ultra liberal household where children are allowed to candidly voice their opinions, use profanity, and/or drink alcohol in the presence of their parents. On the other end of the spectrum, you have households that are militant: children’s opinions aren’t heard, profanity is punishable by death (not really, I’m jesting), and drugs and alcohol are an instant indication that you’re prepared to live life on your own.

Celebrities are often criticized for living unconventional lifestyles as it pertains to their interaction with their family, the religion they choose to follow, how they spend their money, etc. The latest person in question is “bad girl” Rihanna. Everyone knows the pop star is no stranger to controversy and voicing her opinion. In fact, she seems to take pride in her rebellious image. Staying true to her reputation, she raised eyebrows when she tweeted a photo of  herself “flipping the bird” sitting next to her mother. She later tweeted, “Getting comfy! I always feel so safe and at home laying just like this on her lap!…. The way she looks at me is as epic as the way Dolly looked at me! Love u mommy #AriesLife…Me and Mama Fenty doing some bday damage! She’s radical man! #phuckyobirthday,” with her head resting in her mother’s lap. So, here’s the question: Is she disrespecting her mother by sticking up her middle finger? Of course, that depends on who you ask. As previously mentioned, different households operate in different ways.

Last year, Snoop Dogg was heavily criticized for smoking weed with his son. Although his son, Cordell Calvin Broadus, was the proud recipient of a football scholarship from UCLA, he later dropped out of college to pursue his rap career fulltime, cccording to GlobalGrind.

How do you feel about Rihanna and Snoop Dogg’s family dynamics?
