Chris Tucker will be hosting this year’s BET Awards, which will air on June 30. Tucker has been out of the film spotlight for a number of years and recently had a major comeback supporting role in the Oscar nominated film “Silver Linings Playbook”, which also stars Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper.
Tucker’s previous major film role was in “Rush Hour 3” which was a box office blockbuster. Tucker’s name was also being spoken in certain circles regarding the possibility that he would be a part of the cast of the latest “Friday” film which hasn’t received a definite release date yet. Tucker made quite a few hit films during the nineties and 2000’s and despite his relatively small body of work he remains one of the most popular and easily recognized actors in the industry.
Tucker says, he is “looking forward to being part of a really great show.” It’s great that he’s getting a chance to back in the spotlight in front of an African American audience. Tucker embodied his characters with a vitality that is still talked about to this day. He is usually the most memorable character in any film he stars in and his lines are sure to be quoted ad nauseam by movie goers for years. Hopefully this will only add fire to Tucker’s resurgence and we will be seeing a lot more of this talented individual in the coming months.
