A mall cop finds himself in jail after posting a video of himself ‘fighting crime’ on the clock. An altercation broke out after the security guard ask two mothers to remove themselves from the mall because they were two loud. When they all moved the drama outside the mall things became heated and resulting in the the mall cop tasing one of the women right in front of her children. The incident took place at the down town Metro Mall in Fulton County Jail on Thursday.
Well after becoming an Internet sensations, he is now behind bars. Jail records reveal that the security guard, Darien Long, was arrested and charged with battery. The Atlanta police were forced to arrest the mall cop after he got into yet another fight with a person in the mall. He was held on a $2,000 bond early Friday. The video can no longer be viewed on YouTube.
Long says he is being let go by the company that manages the indoor shopping center near the Five Points MARTA station. The party line is that they can’t afford me,” said Long, “But it’s not like I make much money.” Long felt that his actions were justified because the victim had verbally and physically assaulted him.
Mixed emotions about this incident have ranged from feelings of support for long’s no-nonsense approach to crime, to others feeling that his methods were completely over the top.
One of Long’s supporters, a beauty salon owner within the the mall, claimed that, “Before they hired Darien, they used to rob our customers and snatch pursues,” Shokane told the AJC. “Now it is much better and safer. They don’t come in here and bother us anymore.”
Metro Mall’s management could not be reached for a comment. Yet many civilians offered their comments. On Long’s Facebook page, some applauded his dismissal — “Guess you got just what you asked for,” said one commenter.
