Johnny Gill Responds to Those Who Think that He and Eddie Murphy are Lovers

Johnny Gill is a singing legend, spending the last 25 years affiliated with the great New Edition.  His career has had some ups and downs, but he’s always stayed calm, cool and extraordinary.  One thing that has followed him for decades is the rumor that he and Eddie Murphy are an item.

Gill denies it all, of course, but some are wondering if his denials are legitimate or not.  But he’s 46-years old, so maybe at this age, that stuff just doesn’t matter anymore.

Speaking with OMG Insider, Gill spoke about the gay rumors one more time, stating this:

“Let me make sure we’re clear on something, whether it’s being called gay, accused of being a thief, if somebody is lying on you and saying something about you that is not true, it just doesn’t feel good. It doesn’t feel good.”

Johnny compared himself and Eddie to Oprah, Gayle and others who’ve been hit by those rumors.  He might also be wondering why so many people are obsessed with his s*x life.  He seems to feel that it’s all part of the territory, even if he refused to answer the question directly:

“They said it about Oprah and Gayle. They’ve said it about Will and Duane Martin. So I guess we fit in that group because we’ve always been tight. Eddie could care less about it. Anyone that knows Eddie knows that Eddie lives Eddie’s life and he’ll look at you straight up and go ‘Hey, keep messing with me and I’ll hit you with my wallet and knock ya out.’”

Is that really a denial or an evasion?  We’ll let you be the judge. But our opinion is that Johnny Gill is a great singer, and that’s pretty much all that should matter to any of us anyway.
