I’m officially disgusted with the number of stories of innocent children who have loss their lives due the hands a foolishness! Police are now going door to door, armed with automatic weapons, in search for the two suspects responsible for killing a 13 month old baby boy. The suspects opened fire on the infant while his mother pushed him in his stroller.
The shooting took place in a coastal Georgia town on Thursday around 9:15 in the morning. The mother was wounded by the gun shots, which are believed to have come from two males (10 to 15 years old). The Brunswick Police Chief Tobe Green reported the mothers account of the tragic shooting: “He said ‘I’m going to kill you if you don’t give me money,’ and I said, ‘I swear I don’t have any,’” the mother, Sherry West, said in an extremely emotional interview.
The mother tried to protect her infant, little Antonio, but there was nothing she could have done against the down pour of bullets. Sherry West claimed to have put her arms over the defenseless baby and witnessed the armed men shot her son right in the head.
In a press release the Brunswick Mayor Bryan Thompson said, “This is obviously a terrible day in Brunswick. Please call if you know something. You are complicit in this crime.”
The father of the child, Louis Santiago, said he only wishes he could have been there to protect his family. “He was special,” Santiago said. “He had the bluest, bluest eyes.”
The community is left in shock over the details of Thursday’s shooting. Residents admitted that the neighborhood, just south of downtown, is usually a quiet place. However, there have been a new pattern of property crimes here recently. This makes me very uneasy,” Patricia Buie, a resident, told The Brunswick News. “Now I am very concerned. It is making me want to move to the mountains.”
The police are offering a $10,000 reward for information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the two criminals.
