Lifetime’s “Betty & Coretta” Set To Premier February 2nd
Here’s your exclusive first look at Golden Globe® Award-winner and Academy Award®-nominee Angela Bassett and nine-time Grammy®-winning recording artist Mary J. Blige in the upcoming Lifetime Original Movie “Betty & Coretta”. The film, premiering Saturday, February 2 at 8.7c, will tell the dual real-life stories of Coretta Scott King (Bassett) and Dr. Betty Shabazz (Blige) as they create an unbreakable life-long bond after their husbands’ tragic assassinations.
“Betty & Coretta” will kick off our month-long celebration of Black History in February which includes two more world premiere films! “Twist of Faith” starring Toni Braxton (“Braxton Family Values”), Mykelti Williamson (“Justified”) and David Julian Hirsh (“Weeds”) is set to premiere on Saturday, February 9 at 8/7c followed by “Pastor Brown” featuring Salli Richardson-Whitfield (“Eureka”), Keith David (“ER”), Ernie Hudson (“Oz”), Tisha Campbell-Martin (“My Wife and Kids”), Nicole Ari Parker (“The Deep End”), Rockmond Dunbar (“Sons of Anarchy”) and Michael B. Jordan (“Friday Night Lights”) on Saturday, February 16 at 8/7c.

Hmmm, kinda ironic, since Angela played Sister Betty in ‘Malcolm X’, with Denzel Washington as Malcolm.
I would’ve liked to have seen Angela play Sis. Betty once again, with Carmen Egojo playing Coretta Scott King, as she did so well in the MLK film she starred in. Jeffrey Wright, her real-live husband, played MLK.
I’m still not sold on Mary J. Blige as an actress, but this is probably marketing….
OMG can’t wait to see this movie. Two beautiful women.
Yes! Malcolm and Martin weren’t enemies, they were brothers after the same goal, Justice and Equality. It’s great for the movie to show some insight on what really happen during their lives. Peace Be Upon .
