2 Live Crew’s Luke Campbell Calls Spike Lee A ‘Resident House Negro’
It’s bad enough that a legend like d**k Gregory called Spike Lee a “thug” and a “punk”. It gets even worse when one of the biggest thugs in the industry calls you out for being an “Uncle Tom” and then calls you a “resident house negro”. Luke Campbell did just that in his column for the Miami New Times.
Campbell goes in on Spike with his very first words. “ Screw Spike Lee” “Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Django Unchained’ is a brilliant flick that more accurately depicts the African-American experience than any of the 15 movies about black culture Lee’s directed in his lifetime.”
“Lee needs to get over himself. He’s upset because Tarantino makes better movies. The man who put Malcolm X on the big screen is Hollywood’s resident house negro; a bougie activist who wants to tell his fellow white auteurs how they can and can’t depict African Americans.”
“Spike is upset because Samuel L. Jackson’s character in the movie is just like him: a conniving and scheming Uncle Tom.”
So the laundry list of name calling has used the following words to now describe Spike Lee’s Tarantino tantrum, “thug”, “punk”, “Uncle Tom”, “resident house negro”, and “irrelevant”, which he was called by comedian, Donnell Rawlings. Spike Lee may want to pull his foot out of his mouth and then wire it shut for a while. But wait there is one person who may be on his side, troubled comedian ,Katt Williams. He may not be the best ally.
