Richard Pryor’s Widow Gives Mike Epps Go Ahead to Play Pryor In Movie

Actor and comedian Mike Epps made it a point to talk to Richard Pryor’s widow before he officially accepted a role in a movie that was based on the late comedian.

According to TMZ, Epps called Jennifer Pryor and asked for her approval.

Jennifer Pryor spoke to TMZ, expressing that  she was touched by the gesture, saying,

”That was very sweet and respectful that he called me first. I am happy that they picked him. He is a real good guy.”

The role that Epps called Pryor’s widow about is that of Richard Pryor in the new film about the famous jazz singer, Nina Simone.

In being respectful to Pryor’s widow, Epps may have secured a future gig because when Jennifer Pryor spoke to TMZ, they report that she is considering him to play her husband in a Richard Pryor biopic that is in the pipelines. She said that she may not have even thought of him, had he not called her as a courtesy.

While the movie portraying Pryor’s life is still only in the development phase, Jennifer, who will be producing the film, says that she believes that Epps will do a great job and can do an “authentic portrayal” of Pryor.

Curiously, Mrs. Pryor was very candid about one particular person she was certain would not be playing her husband, under any circumstances-Eddie Murphy. She said,

”Having Eddie Murphy play Richard Pryor would be like having Al Jolson play Malcolm X.”

(Jolson is white actor known for his black-face portrayals.)

Mrs. Pryor emphasized that her husband would not want to be played by Murphy, saying,

“He would want someone authentic like himself.”

That was an ignorant comment about Eddie Murphy playing Richard Pryor. Granted I am not a fan of Murphy, but I am more than sure he wouldn’t disrespect the memory of the late Pryor. I swear white people and their attempts at comparisons always leave me dumb founded. Al Jolson playing Malcom X? Really? How stupid. It seems to me that the late Pryor didn’t married someone authentic himself. I never liked this woman. And her actions after his death with doing interviews and craving public sympathy was repulsive.

Racist caucasians have created a stock pile of dangerous weapons with the intent of killing you know who! The only response from AA’s to this serious threat is to continue buying more gold teeth, tattoos, hair extensions, alcohol, tobacco products, crack and other BS. Caucasians created a fake god- a white man to whom black ppl pray to each day and night. The book associated with this fake god- the Bible instructs black ppl to “Love thy enemy” and “Slaves obey your Masters”. Black people, your enemy is planning to wage an all-out war against you and your response is to- Love and Pray for them. Black ppl, please realize you must overcome your fear of cacasians which is responsible for your paralysis to this eminent violence. The time has come for black ppl to stop being slave minded drones to this wicked nation and fake religion.
