Oprah Partnering With HBO to Produce Drama Series About an Elite Black Professor

Oprah has her hands full at OWN, but that doesn’t mean her production studio, Harpo Films, can’t take on new projects. Winfrey’s studio is joining forces with HBO to produce a drama about the first black president of a prestigious college. The film deals with the mask the family is forced to wear in public, all the while dealing with drama behind closed doors.

Playwright Thomas Bradshaw has signed on to co-executive produce the drama. Oprah Winfrey and Kate Forte are also  co-executive producers of the project.

In 2008, Harpo joined forces with HBO  to develop miniseries, movies, and documentaries for the cable network. Before the HBO deal,  Oprah’s production company produced ABC films such as Tuesdays With Morrie.

Oprah has had far more success with OWN in recent months as she has added herself back to the network’s brand and began interviewing celebrities. Oprah certainly has her hands full, but it looks as if she’s not reducing her work load.

The drama is untitled, but would you tune in to watch the a drama about a black professor of a liberal arts college?

Will you be tuning in?

Just another case of black folks, no matter who they are, simply not being able to do anything without white folks and Jews being involved. She wants to kinda be out on her own, but whites don’t want blacks to be totally independent of them, so that they can keep us under their control. The same thing is now beginning to take place with Tyler Perry, who is now teaming up with Jews and white folks, after being disgusted with them and going out on his own. Now the whites are slowly reeling him in, and will soon have another slave (him) back on their plantation, with all of the blacks that he’s been helping down in the unemployment lines. Winfrey and Perry are just two more “bought and sold Negroes.” — Rev. George Brooks

Yes, I would watch only because it may be a member of my family. We all need to focus on the positive.
