Nelly Claims He had No Idea Illegal Drugs and Gun Were On His Bus
Authorities found marijuana, heroin and a loaded gun on rapper Nelly’s tour bus as they were entering the U.S. at a border checkpoint in West Texas. Law enforcement officials said the Grammy-winning rapper was one of numerous people on the bus, on Thursday.
The following day, on Friday, after the border patrol police seized the gun and the drugs, the rapper released a statement to clear his name. Nelly claims that he did not know that there were any illegal drugs or weapons on his tour bus. The rapper was one of seven people traveling on the bus when it was stopped and detained at the Sierra Blanca checkpoint in Texas. According to the statement, only one of the seven passengers was arrested. The person who was arrested is one of Nelly’s staff members, Brian Keith Jones. The statements said,
“It is my understanding a member of my staff made an unfortunate decision to bring unlawful materials onto our tour bus that resulted in his arrest this morning. Neither I nor anyone else on the tour bus was aware of his decision to bring these on board. Law enforcement officials did not press charges against anyone other than that individual.”
Police reports affirm Nelly’s claims. Jones admitted that the drugs and the gun belonged to him and after he was taken into custody, the rest of the tour bus passengers, including Nelly were able to continue with the trip and enter the U.S.
