Man Charged with Drugs,Gun Possession on Nelly’s Tour Bus Pleads Not Guilty
Rapper, Nelly, and six other people were detained in Siera Blanca, Texas, while re-entering the U.S. Among the six other members of Nelly’s staff, was Jones. Jones was charged for possession after police officers searched the tour bus and found 36 small bags of heroin, ten pounds of marijuana and a loaded gun.
The guilty plea comes as a surprise considering that Nelly and five members of his staff were released after Jones owned up to ownership of the drugs and the weapon. Also, Nelly released statement which pointed the finger at Jones, saying,
“It is my understanding a member of my staff made an unfortunate decision to bring unlawful materials onto our tour bus that resulted in his arrest this morning, October 11th. Neither I nor anyone else on the tour bus was aware of his decision to bring these on board. Law enforcement officials in Sierra Blanca, Texas did not press charges against anyone other than that individual.”
In the statement, Nelly was very professional and polite but when he went to vent on Twitter, all bets were off.
The rapper posted a couple of tweets, saying,
“I’m not gonna front I’m mad as h**l about this sh*t! To have someone who works for you and who you call a friend for over 10 years jeopardize your life WTF?”
“That being said he was not only an employee but he was family – someone who protected my life for many years! No excuse for what he did! My heart goes out to his family and his kids!”
Jones is the only member of the seven member party who was arrested and charged. He is out on bail.
