Frank Ocean Quits Music… Maybe
Frank Ocean, a talented artist who isn’t shy of ranting, took to his Tumblr page to post a message that has lead may to assume he has quit the music industry. The message on Tumblr is the first text-based message the artist has posted since he posted a picture of a letter he typed to his male lover.
The message simply read, “YEA, I QUIT.” Previously the artist took to his Twitter page and posted “quitting the music industry is the new black.” He continued: “if i didn’t make music i would just work on cars. germans only.” Some critics believe the singer could’ve possibly been on another infamous rant, as he’d recently tweeted about the joys of recording music in Hawaii. “I see why people record in Hawaii,” he tweeted.
If he did quit music, he won’t be the first R&B artist to publicly retire from the industry. Last year singer Jazmine Sullivan disappointed many fans when she announced that she was quitting the music industry. Like many celebrities, she took to her Twitter page to make the announcement. ”i promised myself when it wasn’t fun anymore i wouldn’t do it. and here i am. i love u all and appreciate u soooooo much. u have no idea how much u’ve inspired me and fed my ego,” she tweeted. “but the truth is that i have to believe in me whether you all do or not. and thats what i’m lookin for. that belief in myself. me. i love us. thanks for being here for me and riding with me on this journey. let us continue. [sic].”
Strangely, her tweets were deleted an hour after posting. She had only been in the spotlight for two years and was nominated for nine Grammy Awards since her debut in 2009. She hasn’t released a single since she tweeted and deleted about her retirement.
