D.L. Hughley on the Presidential Debate: Romney Talked to Obama ‘Like a Servant’

Post By RelatedRelated Post

Comedian D.L. Hughley was interviewed on Current’s “Joy Behar: Say Anything!” to discuss, among other things, his thoughts on the most recent presidential debate. Hughley made his contempt for the GOP known, and then went on to say that he thought Mitt Romney spoke to President Obama like a servant during the debate.

Hughley and Behar began by discussing whether President Obama can get aggressive with Romney without being viewed as an angry black man.

“Just to talk about Obama’s personality a little bit, you know, this angry black man thing we’re hearing about: ‘He can never show himself to be an angry black man.’ First of all…he is not an angry guy,” said Behar.

“He’s more like Carlton from ‘The Fresh Prince’ than he is Wesley Snipes,” the comedian responded, going on to say that Obama “likes being liked” and that we saw that side of Obama in the first debate.

Then Hughley discussed his reaction to Romney’s disrespect of President Obama.

“To me, watching Mitt Romney, who I have a tremendous amount of disdain for…I think that the way he talked to the president of the United States last night was like a man talking to a servant,” he told Behar.

“It’s like Mitt Romney learned manners from watching 50s TV shows,” Hughley continued.

Hughley is not the first person to question whether Romney was disrespectful to President Obama during the second debate. Many pundits have said that Romney crossed the line during one exchange where he cut Obama off and told him to wait his turn.

  1. Obama’s quest to be liked is the biggest criticism.

He’s more of a manger than a leader, yet the country
wants and needs a leader who manages, more than a
manger who wants to be liked.

Romney and Co. still think of Obama as beneath them.
In the 3rd debate, Obama will have to really show Romney
that he will lead the country. He’s already shown that he can manage…

This will be interesting. Whoever wins the next debate may win the (s)election next month.

  2. The False idea of White Supremacy has always thrived in America it’s all right because it’s all White! The Chastisement of Allah(God)is the only thing to make these Demons Fallback I be glad when this BS is over! I’m scared for Obama if he Win he might lose his life with these Wicked Devils may Allah put his Arms around you Brother you need this because these Devils will bust the Gat just ask your Brothers who was targeted COINTELPRO-FBI /Black Nationalists Groups Discredit,Disrupt put a Snitch Jacket on Somebody keep your eyes open my Real People & you scary one get some Testicles from Walmart I heard they on sell for Cowards Man up & get up God has Commanded Lazarus & Lazareena the Whiteman is tired of you Begging for stuff take what is yours & Depend on Allah(God) & self!

  3. I’m a Mormon myself, and yes I’m black, but I want to say this, I’, totally disappointed in the way Romney has carried himself. Not only has he totally disrespected our current President in Obama, but he has gone totally against the grain in what the Mormon faith stand for. He has done a terrible job representing himself as a Mormon, and in being a Republican, he arrogantly and openly caters to is rich and wealthy friends, knowing our country’s economy is hurting. Mr. Hughley was definitely on point in his assessment of Romney, as a Mormon myself, was totally embarrassed, viewing how Romney talked down to Obama, almost to the point of being racist.

  4. If the people in this country vote Romney as president, we will definitely take 2 steps back. It’s utterly disgusting to listen to him speak, his arrogance oozes from his character. We simply cannot allow Romney to run this country in the next 4 years. Because one thing is certain, even if you do not want Obama as president for a second term, at least you know with Obama as president, the economy will show improvement, and the lives of the poor and middle class won’t be in jeopardy of losing hope for fairness. Under the Bush administration, the middle class were at a rapid pace of becoming poor, and in many cases did become poor, as the poor became homeless, but it fell under the Obama administration, but was no fault of his. Our saftety net is to vote Obama to a second term………..

  5. Thank you Mr. Hughley. I think Gov. Romney made a big mistake in the debates when he decided to interrupt the President – who does that?

Both sides are engaging in mudslinging right now – but the President deserves our respect. The Republicans who love America should understand that.
